WHY CHOOSE DIODE LASER FOR HAIR REMOVAL

The main reason why we chose diode laser, which is really spread in the United States of America, apart from its exceptional efficiency, is its safety profile; indeed its longer wavelength makes its act deeper ‘avoiding’ the melanin in the skin’s epidermis.

For bikini and armpits, where hair is usually darker and follicles are deeper, results are extraordinary. Since this laser is of advanced technology, it hurts less than older diode laser and succeeds in eliminating hair.

WHICH ARE THE FACTORS OF EFFICIENCY OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL ?

Naturally, every case is studied and estimated separately and we have to take into consideration any eventual hormonal issues (it is not advised to proceed until their treatment) and make a realistic estimation of the result explaining to the concerned person that :

⦁ When the hair is dark and thick, the result is even more impressive, especially when it is combined with light skin.
⦁ When the hair is blond, the result is more difficult to achieve.
⦁ Small hair treated with laser hair removal may be activated by the machine and become a normal hair before its root is being eliminated. This will certainly happen if there is a hormonal issue at the same time.
⦁ Every time there is a specific percentage of hair that can be eliminated, based on its cycle.
⦁ There is a chance that more hair appears where the treatment is done. This does not mean that there is new hair created but for some reason it coordinates its cycle and appear altogether. After some sessions the quantity of this hair will be reduced and disappear.

WHICH SKIN TYPE IS THE MOST APPROPRIATE FOR DIODE LASER USE?

The way this technology is designed makes it correspond well to all skin types (even in sun tanned skin or brown mediterranean skin colour), to thin and thick hair, and all the areas of the body. On areas where hair is thick and dark, we can have up to 50% reduction of the hair already from the second session.

HOW MANY VISITS DO I NEED & HOW OFTEN ?

The number of sessions, and the period between them, depends on many factors such as the area to be treated, the thickness and colour of the hair (very thin and light hair has bigger resistance compared to thick and dark hair), the development stage of the hair (definitive elimination is achieved only to hair which are in the first stage of development) and the skin colour.

WHICH ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF DIODE LASER COMPARING TO ALEXANDRITE LASER OR TO IPL

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) does not constitute in any case a solution for definitive hair removal, it has as a result a provisory decrease of hair and it does not take part in the laser systems characterized by efficiency and success. Consequently, IPL does not give a long-term result as a laser system; it reduces the number of hair follicles while there is always a possibility of hair reappearing after a period of time.

Comparing with Alexandrite, the bigger wavelength of 810nm of the Diode Laser makes it act deeper, ‘avoiding’ the melanin in the skin’s epidermis. For this reason, it is safer and more efficient comparing to Alexandrite, especially on dark skins or during sunny periods. This allows us to continue the hair removal treatment during summer but also be in charge of darker skins. Especially for the bikini and armpits, where hair is usually darker and follicles are deeper, results are extraordinary. Finally, all the clinical tests have shown that Diode laser is more efficient and anodyne comparing to Alexandrite.

BEFORE THE LASER TREATMENT

The ideal would be to shave the area 1-2 days before our session. The energy of the laser will be used then to eliminate the root of the hair and not the ‘body’ of the hair. Moreover, there is less irritation since the hair is not ‘burned’ on the skin. We obtain this way a better result with less irritation. For the areas we do not shave, like the face, you can use a hair removal cream. We trim the hair before our session. For optimal results, we recommend you do not wax the last 10-15 days before our session. We advise you not to expose your skin to the sun.

AFTER THE LASER TREATMENT

Any irritation last for 2-3 days and in many cases the irritation disappears the same day. We recommend a shower with tempered water in the treated area in order to reduce the temperature, and the regular use of moisturizing and soothing cream. We advise you not to expose your skin to the sun after a laser treatment.
